Welcome! My name is Rachel and I am beyond thrilled to launch Desirae (Desirable Radiance), a passion project of mine combining my love for writing, photography and artists - specifically what makes them tick and how they arrive. If you know me, you know I have to include delightful curiosities such as favorite meals, healthy habits, significant quotes and genuine advice for fellow aspiring artists. I am constantly in awe of those who have the audacity to pursue their dreams and succeed. My hope is to create a space that celebrates, educates and inspires through their stories and my discoveries. Join me as I celebrate and shed light on these impactful, amazing souls!
Hello!! Thank you so much for visiting Desirae!
THE SHORT ABOUT ME: Performer. Photographer. MELT & Pilates Instructor. Fitness Professional. Wife. Lover of coffee, chocolate, and champagne. Happiest when basking in sunshine, living in grace, catching dreams and sharing life's moments with my love, my family and dear friends.
THE DETAILED ABOUT ME: Rachel grew up in Escondido, CA where she trained extensively at Best Foot Forward Dance Studio, Touch of Class, and New West Ballet School. She competed nationally and performed in local musicals through high school. Rachel attended summer intensives at California Ballet and Ballet Pacifica, where she performed solo excerpts from Coppelia, Swan Lake, and Sleeping Beauty. After graduating from the University of California at Irvine with a BFA in Dance Performance and minors in English and Biology, Rachel moved to DC to work for Dance/USA, the national service organization for professional dance. While serving as the Communications Specialist for Dance/USA, Rachel worked with acclaimed photographer Jordan Matter on several Dancers Among Us photoshoots. Once the book made the NY Times best seller list, Rachel moved to NYC to pursue a performing career.
After dancing at sea for six months on Holland America’s m/s Westerdam, Rachel worked as a featured dancer on the STARZ miniseries FLESH AND BONE created by Moira Walley-Beckett. Rachel was honored to join the original cast of acclaimed Broadway director/choreographer Susan Stroman’s production of THE MERRY WIDOW, which marked her Metropolitan Opera debut. She continued to perform at the John W. Engeman Theater’s production of A CHORUS LINE. Rachel completed a year on the road with the national tour of DIRTY DANCING as Vivian Pressman. During the spring of 2017 she returned to DIRTY DANCING to take over the role of Marjorie Houseman. Most recently Rachel spent two months in NYC reviving her role as a swing/cover in Susan Stroman's The Merry Widow at The Metropolitan Opera.
Rachel gives immeasurable love and thanks to Doug, her parents, her peers and mentors for their inspiration.
